Chorus Program

Lizzi gets to be part of an amazing award-winning chorus program here, and their Christmas program was at a spectacular local church.  We really enjoyed the program, especially the song, "The Twelve Days after Christmas," which included lines like, "The first day after Christmas, my true love and I had a fight.  The second day after Christmas, I pulled on the old rubber gloves and very gently wrung the necks of both the turtle doves." And of course, Lizzi's personal favorite, "The third day after Christmas, my mother caught the croup.  I had to use the three French hens to make some chicken soup."  And mom likes, "The fourth day after Christmas, the four calling birds were a big mistake for their language was obscene."  Now that's entertainment.  And totally in keeping with Lizzi's personality.  Just sayin'.

Talented and Gorgeous, Too!

The Thursday before Christmas vacation was Lizziy's* combined orchestra and honor choir performances. They all looked and sounded fabulous, and fun was had by all.

Several people thought we must have spent hours on Lizziy's hair, but the lucky girl has hair that holds curl well.  That was one time around with the rollers, one comb-through with a pick, and one barrette, all accomplished in about 20 minutes, most of that time waiting for the rollers to cool.  It's just sick and wrong.  But then, Hannah and I have hair that holds curl for all of about 20 seconds.  On the other hand, when Hannah or I don't comb our hair, it doesn't always look nasty.  Lizziy has to spend several sessions a day with the hairbrush.  I guess there's pros and cons to everything, right?

* For those of you who have been wondering, Lizziy chooses to spell her name this way.  It's unconventional.  But so is our Lizziy.

Dances from around the World

Tuesday night was the 3rd Grade Program: Dances from around the World.  It was quite the production, and I was very proud of my Zulu Warrior.  His part was very active, as I think the pictures will prove.

If you want to know what it meant to be a Zulu Warrior, you should probably ask Caleb.  He can tell you a bunch of the South African saga.  In any case, this particular dance involved lots of stomping and moving around.  It was my favorite dance.

However, I also really liked the Russian mixer dance at the end.  Many of you will know that a little piece of my heart belongs to Russia since I traveled there as a youth.  But this dance was awesome--it's the kind of dance that goes faster and faster, and you have to switch partners, and you get to jump in the air.  It looked like the kids were having a ball.  Plus, the picture will show you that the program covered a wide variety of cultures.  It was pretty cool.
